Audible is an Amazon company that provides books which can be downloaded to your MP3 player, computer, iPod, iPhone, iTouch, iPad, Blackberry or Kindle. Yes Kindle. And not just books. Podcasts, newspapers (like the Wall Street Journal), magazines, radio, TV and original content. Type in a keyword and then sort the results by best sellers, customer rating, release date, length, price, author or title.

Greetings!
First time readers, welcome! Returning readers, welcome back! Heading into the Holiday season gives some of us time to reflect and some of us time to fret. Here is hoping you take some time to reflect and give thanks, leave the fretting to the whims of others. Happy Thanksgiving.
We do not want to waste your time. Articles will contain generally less than 250 words. Please have a look and give us your feedback. By all means, forward to a friend using the link at the bottom of the Newsletter. Thanks. Questions? Email me at rmj@trif.com |

What Can We Learn From a Turtle?
Native American legend has it that the turtle was involvedwith the creation of the world and specifically North America. It is respected for its strength and individuality. Those who bear the symbol of the turtle carry the responsibility of caring for, protecting and nurturing others.
It is often regarded as a direct connection to Mother Earth. A turtle is considered the keeper of the doors, the link to water and land, the path to heaven.
The turtle often has thirteen segments on its back or carapace. It is said to align with the lunar calendar which has thirteen full moons and thirteen new moons alternating each year. Mother Earth will care for us and nurture us as long as we do the same for her.
The turtle tells us to slow down and heighten our sensibilities. We must see the connection to all things. Just as the turtle cannot separate itself from its shell, we cannot separate ourselves from Mother Earth.

Google Calendar, a Powerful Contender.
As I indicated last month, I have been looking closely at Google Calendar. For me, it is better than Outlook because it is everywhere, instead of just on one computer (Outlook calendars are available locally for those not using a Microsoft Exchange Server). Why else? It's free. I can share it so other people know my schedule. It is available from any computer or mobile device anywhere in the world. The information can be exchanged with other applications like Outlook or other scheduling tools. It permits viewing multiple calendars on one calendar view. It allows sharing a calendar with a friend or group. It helps manages tasks. It handles recurring events. It pushes events and reminders to your mobile instantly or emails your reminders to you.
Some of the lessor used capabilities of Google Calendar:
- Powerful search capability. Need to find when you met with a particular person? Just enter the name in the Calendar Search box and a list of events will quickly appear.
- Print a 'DayTimers-like' calendar view of your week-at-a-glance.
- Connect the forecast to your daily calendar.
- If you use GMail, you can easily add events from a GMail email to your calendar.
- You can also use Google Calendar to schedule resources for a conference room, office hours, a racket-ball court and allow the public to view the calendar.
Little known shortcut keys helpful to frequent users are c = create event, / = search. t = jump to today. d = Day view. w = Week view. m = Month view. q = quick add. Alt-S = Save.

Why Do Businesses Work With TRI?
I have spent some time reviewing why people work with TRI as I prepared for a presentation. It was interesting reviewing testimonials and emails from clients over the past few years.
Although there are a lot of reasons, some surface to the top more than others. The first and foremost reason is we create what our clients need, want or require. No more, no less. Sometimes available software just doesn't do enough, sometimes, it does too much. We create solutions that resolve the problem without going overboard.
We show up. That is, we have been a stable service provider for 28 years and each of our small but effective staff has more than a dozen years of experience. When we are called on, we show up! Our clients have come to expect the predictability of our response and service.
We understand. Not only do we have a very good sense of where technology is going, but we have a first hand understanding of our clients businesses. It helps us communicate more effectively and service more productively.
Trust. We are a trusted ally and confidant. We become part of the business and have the back of each of our clients as if it was our business. We pride ourselves in the bond and friendship we develop. It doesn't come over night, but when it comes, it lasts forever. |
