Like to listen to Books?

I wrote about this last month.  If you missed it, click here.

It is a very powerful tool and worth your review. Click below to set up a free account.
Audible is an Amazon company that provides  books which can be downloaded to your MP3 player, computer, iPod, iPhone, iTouch, iPad, Blackberry or Kindle.  Yes Kindle.  And not just books.  Podcasts, newspapers (like the Wall Street Journal), magazines, radio, TV and original content.  Type in a keyword and then sort the results by best sellers, customer rating, release date, length, price, author or title.

Made progress with Google Calendar in the last few weeks.  More next month on that. Talking about my iPad this month.  I wish I owned a lot of Apple stock.   We do not want to waste your time. Articles will contain generally less than 250 words.  Please have a look and give us your feedback.

The iPad (my) Technology Pick for 2010
Those who know me know I love my iPad.  I use as much as 4 hours a day.  So what do I do with it?  The better question iswhat don't I do with it. I don't do spreadsheets (although I can).  I don't program on it (although I can). I don't make calls with it (although I can use Skype).   Here is what I do.  I browse the web, research, handle email, schedule appointments, manage tasks, monitor social media like Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn, check my voicemail, create blog entries, write articles for my newsletter (like this one), take notes during meetings, read books and magazines, play audio books, touch up photographs, demo software, use in meetings to display PDF documents or PowerPoint presentations, remote control office and client computers,  download photos directly from my Camera's SD Card, watch movies in HD, connect to my wide-screen HD television to play YouTube videos,  home movies or photo slideshows, access files stored on Google, DropBox and Box.net, read Kindle Books , and I haven't even mentioned all the fun stuff - and there is a lot of that!  And where do I use it? I use it inside, I use it outside, I use it when I am on the road or off the road. When I am home and when I am on vacation. I have had it for 3 months and it just keeps getting better and better. Any questions?

It might be why 4.2 million iPads were sold just last quarter.

TRI accepts Payment Through PayPal

Customers have asked if we accept credit cards for the payment of equipment and services.  The simple answer is yes we do, but it is through the PayPal service.  In addition to providing our invoices in PDF form, we will also send a request for payment through PayPal to your email address.  In these cases, you will receive an email from service@paypal.com with the subject PayPal money request from Transportation Resources, Inc. The message will say Hello, Transportation Resources would like to be paid through PayPal.  It will display the description as Service and the amount of the invoice.  You will have the PDF copy of the Invoice for your records.   There will be a button in the email that says Pay Now which you can click to tender payment.

If you have a PayPal account, it's easy.  If you don't, that's OK as well.  You have the ability to connect your credit card or your business checking account to a PayPal sign-on.  If you use a credit card, in many cases, reward points would be earned by the card connected to the PayPal account.

Applying the Oxygen Mask to Leadership

I Recently listened to Extraordinary Leadership by Robin Sharma.  It is a free speech available on audible.com that lasts just over an hour.   Sometimes it's the words people use that resonate with you.   Sharma speaks about all of us being a leader, if you can breathe, you can lead.  What struck me is his analogy of the use of oxygen masks when flying.  In the event of an emergency, you are advised to put your own oxygen mask on first - and then help the people around you.  His point?  In providing leadership at whatever level, you must tend to yourself before you can tend to others.  He suggests you wake at 5 AM every morning and spend an entire hour on yourself.

Spend that time meditating, planning, writing, exercising, walking, thinking or whatever will help you feel better that day.  You need to pay attention to yourself every day and doing it first thing in the morning prevents the excuses which are readily available after the day begins.   Then begin your day and move to accomplish that which you least want to accomplish. Run towards the things you fear. Embrace that which left undone would gnaw at you.  That will help give you the energy and excitement and clarity of purpose.
