Client of The Month
A regular feature in our Newsletter highlights one of our very best clients and introduces you to their services.
This month, we would like to feature
Highway Inter-State
Transportation Co., Inc..
Highway Inter-State has been a client of ours since the 80's. Things were different then. They seemed simpler. Deregulation was just taking a foot-hold and carriers were just beginning to cope with the changes. Highway Inter-State and the DeGrazia family have maintained a steady hold on their corner of the transportation world providing seamless operations and exemplary customer service. They really do go the extra mile and we are proud to partner with them.

TRI Captures MassPort Maritime Data
On January 15, 2010, TRI implemented an automated data capture utility designed to extract specific information from the MassPort logistics web site www.maritime.massport.com. It helps anyone tracking containers arriving at MassPort via ocean vessels. Carriers handling import containers can set up an automated status inquiry, data capture and reports. They can be alerted in a variety of ways when containers clear customs and become available for pick up. Carriers typically enter transactions into their freight management system when the shipment is dispatched. The automated status inquiry can be linked to our Freight Management software and help carriers manage the paper flow for containers which have not yet been picked up. It helps to insure incoming shipments are not forgotten since it handles the checking and notification automatically.

New Rules: Intermodal Equipment Provider Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (IEPDVIR)
Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR) regulations FMCSA Part 396.11 have been extended to June 17, 2010. These rules specify that a DVIR must be completed by every motor carrier at the completion of each day's work on each vehicle operated and shall cover inspection of brakes, steering, lights, reflectors, tires, horn, wipers, mirrors, coupling devices, wheels and emergency equipment. Intermodal equipment providers must inspect king pins, rails, tie down bolsters, locking pins, sliders, wheels, lugs, tires, lights, air line hoses, couplers and brakes. Although they specified the rules and require a report to be completed, they did not specify the format or provide the forms. For those interested in obtaining forms that cover all the components, they are available at www.iepdvir.com for $88.32 per 1,000.

You can glean a lot of valuable information for free. Like this quote from Charles Darwin; "It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but rather the one most adaptable to change." You can also sign up for Twitter, Facebook, Email, Widgets, YouTube or an RSS feed for your information. Check it out. It's pretty interesting.
