A New Look for TRIF.COM

After more than a quarter century, we have updated our logo and our message. Our vision is new and our mission is clear. We are TRIF.COM.

We have been working on updating our image and logo for the last couple of years. It is not an easy thing to do. A logo becomes a personal symbol of the company you have been part of for more than a 25 years later and the logo has been replaced.

Not only is this new logo featured here in this newsletter, but it also presents a new image for our web site and blog.  The initial response has been very positive. Please let us know what you think.  Email me at rmj@trif.com.

BNI
A Chance to Network

If you are familiar with BNI, then this article may not provide you with new information.  If you are not, read on. I have been part of the BNI networking organization since 2007 and since that time I have networked and marketed more than ever. I have extended my business opportunities, increased my contact sphere, improved my outlook on business and improved my management skills -- all during this recessionary period.

I am a member of the BNI Nashoba chapter of BNI, one of almost 100 chapters in Massachusetts and 5,300 chapters worldwide with more than 110,000 people participating. Each chapter represents a group of like-minded yet non-competing business people specializing in a wide variety of businesses and personal services.

BNI meets weekly for 90 minutes with additional meetings between individual members and power teams.  The purpose?  To generate business for one another. The other members of my chapter are always on the lookout for new business opportunitoes for me and I am always on the lookout for business opportunities for them.  It is what we do.  How do they know what to look for?  Every week, I prepare and deliver a 45 second commercial for my business. After a while, they get it.  Even if they know nothing about technology or custom software development, they know what to listen for.

For more information about our Chapter, click www.bninashoba.com, for more information about BNI in Massachusetts, click www.bnimass.com and for more information on BNI, click www.bni.com.  If you are interested in seeing what meetings are like, search www.youtube.com for BNI Meetings. You just might see video of a meeting in Japan or Scotland.  It is a remarkable organization.
Conventions, Shows - No More!
Are they really necessary in this day and age

Adobe, the makers of Acrobat and PDF technology along with a whole range of other graphic based software tools, has abandoned traditional product launch strategies.  In the past, they would attend the major shows or conventions for a major software announcement.  They have shifted 3/4 of their advertising budget to digital and gone virtual. Why?  Because it is more effective.  In the past, they could reach thousands, now they reach hundreds of thousands. They invest in a wide variety of rich web information including demonstrations, videos, education, samples and testimonials.
We might all take a lesson from one of the premier software developers. A physical impact isn't always absolutely necessary if you can convey the message clearly, passionately and effectively. Like more information?  Watch this 3-minute video from Advertising Age.

If any of the information here is of interest to you, please drop us a note.  If you would like to see specific information on technology issues that affect you and your business, please drop us a note.

Sincerely,

Robert McKay Jones
