Blog |
|
Wikipedia tells us A blog (a contraction of the term "weblog") is a type of website, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order. You will be able to find a blog on things that interest you. For example, there are 3,059 Blogs on Koi (the fish), 1,520 Blogs on Disney World, 15,310 Blogs on the IRS, and 7,729 Blogs on Tequila and another 178 Blogs on Tequilla.
Well, we have begun one of these things. Technology and Business - As You Like It. Why? Good question. There are a number of reasons to have our own Blog. The first is to pass along information we think will be informative, useful, noteworthy, interesting, advanced or helpful. The second is to add, for people that don't know us, another way to better get to know us. Lastly, it represents a storehouse of information. Have a look and let us know what you think. If you have any questions please email rmj@trif.com.

How Many Blogs Could There Be? |
|
Well, we can't be sure. Somewhere over 133 million for sure. There are about 900,000 logged each day. It is a growing phenomena worldwide with more than 50% of all Internet users in the United States reading at least one blog. That is more than 94 million blog readers. To put this in perspective, 41 million people use FaceBook, 75 million people use MySpace. www.Tecnorat.com is a formidable information source and search engine for blogs. Enter any subject of interest and you surely will find someone who wants to talk about it. You will find that the Huffington Post leads the top 100 list. See it for yourself at http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ - it is a huge Blog with tons of information and contributing writers. It is evidence that Blogs are becoming tomorrows newspapers. If you want more information, details, or search for a blog of interest to you, start at this link: http://technorati.com/blogging/state-of-the-blogosphere/.

Those who know us know that we fell in love with the iTouch and iPhone - hook, line and sinker. We started developing little snippets of code for these cute little devices and downloaded hundreds of other applications. We converted from Verizon service to AT&T service because we valued the iPhone so highly. We have serious issues with AT&T service, but they are far out shadowed by the advantages of the iPhone. We have just initiated our own in-house time-entry web app for the iPhone using our new iphone Web Portal which you can see at www.iTrif.com. Sorry, you need authorization to move past thelogin screen, but let me give you a flavor. Here are some images of the screens we use to manage our time.
The iPhone Web Portal is linked to a SQL Server database we build to suit and it is tied into our Time Management and Billing System we wrote more than 10 years ago. It allows us to track time by date and time, client, project, activity or description. Information entered on these screens appear on our Invoice Detail that accompanies our invoices which are automatically converted to PDF and emailed to our clients each month. Just imagine what crisp little databaseapplications you might find handy in your organization. Just some applications we can think of are:
- Sales call summary
- New contact entry
- Meeting request form
- Expense log entry
- Appointment notification
- Lead follow-up
- Purchase Order request
The advantage of www.iTrif.com is that it is connects your iPhone or iTouch with a centrally located database and uses that data in real-time for many users mobile and stationary. Management can review and manage mobile users more effectively. Have other ideas? Please let me know. Email rmj@trif.com. | |
