Technology Resources
Technology Resources aren't important to everyone.  Some companies manage just fine using pen and paper.  The use of white boards would amaze many. Some could not survive without post-it notes.

For those of you that can operate like this, that's great. For all the others, technology solutions are a part of doing business just like sales and marketing,  It is an  integral component in servicing your customer, managing your costs or controlling your operation.

Our capabilities bridge database design and development, Internet web- based programs, hosting and co-location services, network and computer sales and support, document imaging, bar code scanning, corporate communications, fax and email cooperation, mobile applications, cloud computing and help desk services.   Interested in taking a forward step with  technology?   Looking to take advantage of the latest advances?  Just want to take advantage of your new computer?

"Ideas are Like Fish"

These are the opening words to a book by David Lynch, Catching the Big Fish; Meditation, Consciousness, and Creativity.   David Lynch is the maker of such films as The Elephant Man and the TV Show Twin Peaks.

His premise grabs you, "If you want to catch little fish, you can stay in the shallow water. But if you want to catch the big fish, you've got to go deeper." Down deep the fish are more powerful and more pure. " The book describes how your consciousness (your awareness) can impact the ideas you have.  Go deeper into your consciousness and you can move deeper into the ocean - where the big fish are.  Your ideas will grow in size, stature, meaning and value.   The book really describes the benefits of meditation and how it can help develop and trust your intuition.

A very fast read, but it stops at how. For that, you might want to check out a book by John Novak,  How to Meditate, A Step-by-Step Guide to the Art and Science of Meditation.  John Novak breaks meditation down into its very basic parts which all start with breath.

Why meditate?
A Detroit based chemical plant posted the following results three years after implementing meditation:
  • Absenteeism fell by 85%
  • Productivity rose 120%
  • Injuries dropped 70%
  • Profits increased 520%
There have been over 1,500 separate studies since 1930. All were related to meditation and its effects on the practitioners. Some statistics on people who meditate include results like:
  • Heart rate, respiration, blood pressure and oxygen consumption are all decreased.
  • Meditators are less anxious and nervous.
  • Meditators were more independent and self-confident.
  • People who deliberated daily were less fearful of death.
  • 75% of insomniacs who started a daily meditation program were able to fall asleep within 20 minutes of going to bed.
  • Production of the stress hormone Cortisol is greatly decreased, thus making it possible to deal with stress better when it occurs.
  • Women with PMS showed symptom improvements after 5 months of steady daily rumination and reflection.
  • Thickness of the artery walls decreased which effectively lowers the risk of heart attack or stroke by 8% to 15%.
  • Relaxation therapy was helpful in chronic pain patients.
  • 60% of anxiety prone people showed marked improvements in anxiety levels after 6-9 months.
Enjoy!

What is Customer Service?

We all struggle with this.  We all need to do better.

If you read Wikipedia, you will see that customer service is an integral part of a company's customer value proposition. It plays an important role in an organization's ability to generate income and revenue and should be included as part of an overall approach to systematic improvement. -- DUH!

Have a peek at Auditing Your Customer Service by John Leppard and Liz Molyneux and you will get a better definition.  Customer service means different things to different people. In the end, it is the customer 'feel good factor' generated by the customer being treated with courtesy, respect and attention at ALL points of contact within the company. That is what makes the difference.

Assuming you have good products and services, it is customer service that will make or break you. Spend some time with www.my3cents.com  and you will see that people are not satisfied. It also indicates that corporate America isn't appeasing the masses.

And the worst offenders?  An MSN-Zogby Poll provides a great insight into what America is upset about and that some companies just don't get it.

My pet peeves are Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts.  Ignore the quality of their product and appearance of their establishment and all you have is customer service. It is obvious they have different standards. Review www.my3cents.com  or www.complaints.com
You will see similar results.  Each has dozens of complaints.  DD has consistently more. The difference?  People actually write compliments about Starbucks.  Not the case for Dunkin Donuts.

We all have become too complaisant. What is acceptable customer service today was not acceptable yesterday. Time to speak up America.  Not happy?  Use the Internet and tell a million friends.

The Amazon Kindle

Like a good book?  How about hundreds of them - in your hands at a moments notice.  The Kindle is a remarkable device 8 inches long, 5.3 inches wide and an infintesimal 1/3 inch thick. It weighs  10.2 ounces.

Features: Kindle is easy on the eyes. It keeps track of where you left off in any book you happen to be reading. Buy books and periodicals from your Kindle or your PC and they are available for the reading almost instantly. It connects to the Amazon Kindle servers via 3G network - just like your mobile phone - it is almost always on line (optionally turn off when on a flight).

For iPhone users, you can download the Kindle software to your iPhone free of charge. Books purchased for the Kindle will download to your Kindle and/or your iPhone.  There is no additional charge.
