Interactive Voice Response
In
telephony, interactive voice response, or IVR,
is a computerized system that allows a person, typically a
telephone caller, to select options
from
a voice menu and otherwise interact with the computer phone
system. Generally the system plays a pre-recorded voice prompt
and the caller presses a number on a telephone keypad to select
an option - i.e. "press 1 for yes, press 2 for no". Some IVR
systems can also recognize the caller's simple spoken answer
such as "yes", "no", or a number as a valid response to the
voice prompt.
Does your company provide
repetitive information to callers about something in your database,
like delivery dates, routing information, rates and charges or
scheduling information? An interactive voice response (IVR)
system is a simple and low-cost alternative to the man-hours
required to constantly provide that type of information.
An IVR system is basically a
computer system connected to telephone lines and also connected to a
database of ever-changing information. The computer answers
the incoming lines and instructs the caller to enter or say a word
or number that corresponds to a piece of data and then it retrieves
that piece of data and gives the caller the information required.
We have created IVR systems
which provide delivery information or other scheduling information
for less than you might expect. Consider IVR as another service that
sets you apart from your competition.
